Following two tragedies involving electric automated gates and children, the HSE issued strict guidelines in September 2010. This outlines how gates should be designed, installed and more importantly commissioned and tested prior to completion and hand over to the client.

Many gate automation companies are still not adhering to these guidelines. Even if EN compliant equipment is being used, it cannot be assured to meet the required forces allowed without the use of impact testing, using the correct testing equipment. Each and every gate will react differently.
 

Every installation we carry out comes with a full multi page risk assessment
and impact test results pack. This is now a legal requirement so check that your
Gate Automation company is installing to these standards and producing the
required certification, If they are not then give us a call.
